Travel Writing: The Beginning

I received this in the post today:

😀

Over the past year or so I have done my fair share of reading about travel writing – how it’s done and how to get there. I know there are mixed opinions about whether there is any need to fork over money for another book about the subject but I happened across the Lonely Planet’s Guide to Travel Writing a few weeks ago, read the introduction and was intrigued. Besides, I can’t think of even one particular instance when reading too much about one subject did more harm than good.

I’m currently reading an incredibly interesting book (Digital Vertigo: How Today’s Online Social Revolution is Dividing, Diminishing and Disorienting Us – I would highly recommend it) and also need to finish another one within the next few weeks in time for book club. Meaning: This one has to be placed on the back burner for a little while. But I’ll get there and once I do you can expect a review and some handy tips.

In the meantime, however, there are two online (free!) travel writing courses which I would recommend:

I’m still an aspiring travel writer at this point in time but who knows what can happen once I have some decent travelling experience under my belt. Watch this space! 🙂

Ooh! Can I read that after you? And thanks for those links. Adding them to the bookmarks now.

Certainly! It may be a while until I'm finished with it as it's rather thick but I will post it to you when I'm done.

Hannah, thank you for mentioning my free travel writing course on Women on the Road! I don't offer the course anymore, but – it's even better now. I've taken all the material from the course and compiled it into one single massive post which you'll find at Travel Blogger Academy, at this link: http://travelbloggeracademy.com/how-to-become-a-travel-writer/

I hope you and your readers find it useful!
