Sometimes the excitement falls short and I am left feeling melancholy. I have upped and left everything and everyone I know twice in my life so far – once was not by choice but possibly the reason I have chosen to do so since – but it is never an easy decision to take. Knowing I have consciously resolved to be alone for the past while, and will continue to be so for some time yet, can be a lonely thought.
But it’s not all red eyes and snotty tissues. It’s only human to have fears and doubts; the main thing is that you keep your eye on the prize. I absolutely adore the poem ‘Oh, the Places You’ll Go’ by Dr. Seuss because it helps me do just that.
You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You’re on your own. And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.
